Important Election Questions

How do I register to vote?
     You can stop in the County Clerk's office and complete a form
     You can call the County Clerk's office and we will mail a form to you
     You can go to the Secretary of State's website - www.sos.state.ne.us and click on the forms request, then click on “Voter Registration form”, print the form, complete the information and mail to County Clerk's office.
     You can request to be registered to vote when you renew your driver's license

Can I change my party affiliation?
     Yes, but you must do so by May 2, 2008 at 6:00 P.M.

When is the last day to register to vote or to make changes to my voter registration?  
     May 2, 2008.  The office will be open until 6:00 P.M. to accommodate residents.

If I have not voted for several elections, am I still a registered voter able to vote in this Primary Election?
     You should contact the County Clerk's Office at 308-436-5265 to verify if your voter registration is current and correct.

Is early voting the same as absentee voting?
     Yes, early voting is the new term for absentee voting.

How do I request an early voting ballot?
     You can call the county clerk's office and an early voting request form  will be mailed to you.
     You can stop by the office and pick up a form or complete the form there.
     There will be a form published in the Scotts Bluff Star Herald in April that you can complete
     You can obtain a form by going to the Secretary of State's website - www.sos.state.ne.us and clicking on the forms request, then click on “Absentee request form.     
     You can mail, fax, or deliver this request form to the County Clerk's office

May I vote early in the County Clerk's office?  
     Yes, beginning April 7, 2008 and continuing until May 12, 2008 at
4:30 P.M.

May I return my early voting ballots to the polls?
     No, they must be returned to the County Clerk's office.


When must early voting ballots be returned to the County Clerk's office?
     By 7:00 P.M. on Election day - May 13, 2008, either by mail or delivery

Will my early vote be confidential?
     Yes  

If I am registered as a non-partisan, can I vote in the primary?
     You can vote on any non-partisan offices but you can only vote on the United States Senator and United States Representative races on the national or state tickets.  At the polls you will have to designate whether you want a non-partisan Democratic ballot or a non-partisan Republican ballot.  

If I am only 17 can I vote in the primary?
     If you will be 18 prior to the General Election on November 11, 2008 you may register and vote in the primary election
